Paper Abstract:

Mobile learning (M- learning) which is now very popular with the high rate of access to smart devices among the Arab students is extended form of Electronic learning (E-learning). Mobile and wireless learning enable instructors to develop new type of contents and allow students to have multi channel access to these contents. Institutions are now exploring the way to push the content to smart, mobile handheld devices which are getting common among the university and college students. This study examines the college students perceptions and readiness for E/M-learning at Colleges of public university and private university in Saudi Arabia. This research measure and compare the preparedness and readiness level of the students and lecturers for the introduction of E/M-learning at the Colleges of Saudi Arabia. Structured questionnaire were used to get response from 116 subjects of both students and lecturer. Initial findings revealed that M/E-learning training and E/M-learning confidence were statistically significant predictors of both e-learning adoption and e-learning readiness. The results showed two strong factors influences 1) Support from the management and 2) E/M-learning training on both E/M-learning adoption and E-learning readiness. Results show that the students and academics are ready to implement M/E-learning. Private sectors students and intuition have high score of readiness. Also this research is based on basic hypothesis that students are more efficient as compare to staff with M/E learning because of their adoption to smart devices and collaboration among themselves using ICT. |
